The Most Luxurious Homes on the Ottawa Market Today

While million dollar homes have become a lot more common on the real estate market over the last few years, luxury properties are far more rare.

Often, these properties are sold by agents who specialize in high-end sales and offer a unique set of services for staging and marketing these one-of-a-kind listings.

Even though most buyers cannot afford these massive mansions, we thought it would be fun to take a look at the most valuable and luxurious homes currently listed for sale on the Ottawa Real Estate Board.

Sheer Opulence

139 Winding Way, Ottawa (MLS# 1299553)

When someone says “mansion,” this is what we picture. The gated stone driveway leads to a grand stone house (more like a castle with that turret) with a sweeping staircase and a heavy wooden door. The house is full of massive chandeliers and grand staircases, and the stone fireplace adds the perfect old-fashioned manor feel.

This house has a ton of impressive rooms, including 8 bathrooms (does anyone actually need that many?), a wine cellar, and a fitness room, and a sprawling sauna, but the most remarkable feature is the indoor pool surrounded by multiple stories of windows. Altogether, this feels like a luxury hotel reserved for select guests.

Rockcliffe Heritage

283 Acacia Avenue, Ottawa (MLS# 1287394)

The character of this 1930s home is well-preserved, with beautifully-integrated modern touches.

While this home doesn’t have any spas or special rooms it does have an incredible yard with an in-ground pool, mature trees, and gorgeous gardens.

The most luxurious thing about this historic house, however, is the sprawling size of it. There are 6 bedrooms, formal and informal living and dining rooms, and a screened-in porch, all boasting the same charm as the exterior.

Island Oasis

16024 Lakeside Drive, South Stormont (MLS# 1299630)

There are lots of unique elements to this house: its location on Moulinette Island (part of the St Lawrence Parkway and within the bounds of a provincial park), the mix of modern and classic elegance, the indoor pool, and the private dock and boat launch.

But, by far, the coolest part of this home is the cinema room! Wouldn’t you love to have your own private viewing room like this one? It’s boldly decorated with scenes and figures from action movies and set up with comfortable leather theater seats. PLUS a fully-equipped concessions area!

The Estate

5944 Earlscourt Crescent, Ottawa (MLS# 1289742)

“The Estate” in Manotick seems to have it all. Are entertainment rooms your thing? This house has a theater and a games room. Do you prefer at-home fitness? There is an exercise room and a saltwater pool in the backyard. What about cars? This home has a 5-car garage!

The classic mansion look is even elevated in this house thanks to all of the gorgeous windows and open spaces.

The most unique feature, in our opinions, might be the raised platform in the corner of the living room that currently houses a grand piano. It also makes us wonder: if you didn’t have a grand piano, what would you use that platform for?

Natural Elegance

5841 Queenscourt Crescent, Ottawa (MLS# 1280640)

The last house we will look at is located in the same neighbourhood as “The Estate,” Rideau Forest. However, this place is all about clean, modern lines and natural elements like stone pillars and fireplaces.

Highlights of this property include: the primary ensuite with marble floors that seamlessly blend with the soaker tub, framed by his and hers sinks on opposite side of the room; a large bar complete with plenty of seating, colourful uplighting, and a disco ball; the games room, home theater, and golf room; and the saltwater pool with a hot tub and poolside cabana.

BONUS: The Destination

270 Spence Lane, Athens (MLS# 1216855)

Who needs to travel when you can live at this resort-style waterfront property?

It doesn’t exactly count as a home…because it’s actually several homes. This property has 10 structures, 6 of which are waterfront villas! That means there is space for you and your whole family (yes, even the in-laws)! With 41 acres of land and tons of things to do, we’re betting you probably won’t even see each other that often.

With 2 boathouses, a games house, 2 bars, and a stage with a high-end sound system you should be able to entertain yourself for a long time.
